About Photojaanic

“The mediums we use are simply tools for expressing your art.”

John Lasseter

At Photojaanic, we believe in the power of artistic visual storytelling. We all have important stories waiting to be told: stories of our families, the events in our lives, the things we’re proud of. Together, they all tell part of our own life’s story.

Our purpose at Photojaanic, is to make it easier for these stories to be heard. We believe telling these stories doesn’t have to be difficult and expensive.

B&W TO COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY YEARS

Until 1980, India only had black & white photography and virtually no consumer photography cameras. There were almost no photo labs at the time. In 1983, we ushered in the color photography industry into India, by creating the infrastructure to enable consumers and professionals to tell their visual stories with color. We setup plants to produce cameras, laboratory equipment, film, color paper and chemicals, and sold under the Hot Shot, Konica and Minolta brand names.

In the 1990’s we collaborated with Polaroid to manufacture the instant cameras. This let photographers and consumers experience the magic of “instant” photography, without having to wait for the film to be developed in a photo lab.

THE START OF DIGITAL PRINTING

At the turn of the century, we established a software development center for imaging applications. We developed photo kiosk, photo book and image manipulation applications for retailers so their customers could personalize their photo products.

In the mid-2000’s, we partnered with HP to offer retailers and consumers “photo publishing” solutions and helped launch Snapfish, in India and Singapore. Customers could go into retail stores or online and create a variety of creative products to tell their stories.

In 2012, we helped launch the Kodak Collections range of premium photo albums and the Kodak Wonder Years School Portrait Photography program. The Kodak Collections offering was the first of its kind to offer a range of ethnically inspired themes for the Indian wedding market. The Wonder Years program was the first mass market professional portrait service for schools.

PHOTOJAANIC

In 2013 Photojaanic.com was launched to help consumers tell their stories with personalized print products. We added new products like photo restoration, mounted prints, and wedding guest books.

PRO PRODUCTS & MOBILE CASES

In 2016, based on customer requests and the availability of higher quality cameras and mobile phones, we launched a new range of products for the visual storytelling enthusiast and professional. We also partnered with Case Station to bring in a range of premium quality personalized mobile phone cases.
